Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back to a new remote learning start to the school year! Our entire Findley Family has been working to ensure this is going to be a great year.  Our mission: To prepare EACH child for success! We are committed to this mission and providing a quality learning experience during this time of remote learning.  

We have the following new staff members to the Findley Family:

  • Mrs. Essandoh, Dean of Students 

  • Mrs. Dang, ESL teacher

  • Ms. Larson, Gifted teacher 


Drive up/ Outdoor Open House 

During these unprecedented times we will have an outdoor drive through Open House on September 8, 2020 from 4-6 p.m. You will enter the school parking lot from Wall street and drive along the sidewalk to receive school supplies to support remote learning at home, a daily schedule for learning, and get to see many of the teachers.


You will not need to leave your car, social distancing will be followed. For those walking, social distancing paths will be marked on the sidewalk.  Facial masks are required.  


Classroom assignments will no longer be posted on the doors. You may check Home Access Center (HAC) for your child’s teacher assignment or check your child’s APS email account for a google classroom invite from your child’s teacher. 


A virtual Open House slideshow will also be uploaded to our school website for any families unable to attend in person. 


Child Nutrition Food Distribution

Nutrition is an essential component of school days.  During the remote learning period, meals are being offered daily at no charge to all Akron Public School students.  Grab and go bagged meals will include breakfast and lunch and are available for pick-up Monday through Friday beginning September 9th from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.  You can pick up meals from the Akron Public School location most convenient for you, even if it is not the school your student attends.  A meal pass was mailed to all APS students.  Please present your pass at meal pick-up.  If you lose or do not have a meal pass, you can obtain another one from where meals are picked up.


Technology Support 

Technology support is available at the school Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from  8:30 a.m.to 4:00 p.m.

You may come to the school during that time to get support you may need with your device and charger. 



First Day of Remote Learning School is September 10th for students in Grades 2-4

  September 11th for students in Grade 5

  September 14th for students in KG and 1st


Kindergarten and 1st grade students will be coming in by appointment on September 8, 9 and 10th to complete an academic screening.  


Over the summer, you were mailed an APS school packet.  This envelope contains very important information.  Inside the packet, you will find a letter with instructions and the Snapcode needed to update your student’s emergency information online.  Visit akronschools.com and go to the APS Enrollment and Registration screen and click on Returning Student Information.  You will need your student’s unique snapcode to proceed.  If you have lost or misplaced your child’s individual snapcode, please contact the school for assistance.  


Communication  

We invite you to call or email your child’s teacher with any possible questions or concerns.  All Findley teachers will have office hours from 2:00-3:15 during this remote learning time. We believe in open two-way communication to ensure success for your child. 


Report Cards and Interim Reports will no longer be mailed. You will have access to review your child’s progress immediately in the Home Access Center (HAC). This will also provide you the opportunity to keep track of your child’s progress throughout the school year as you will be able to see their grades in HAC throughout the year,  not just for interims and report cards. Please contact the school office to ensure you have access to HAC by providing your current email address.  You will receive a separate letter in the mail with your access information for HAC.


During this time, we want to ensure your safety while keeping our offices open and available to address your needs. You may contact the school office by phone from the hours of 8:00-4:00. Please call to schedule an appointment if you will need to come to the school for any reason. This ensures that we will not have a large gathering in the office and will be able to ensure social distancing. Please know that masks are required when coming into the school.
