Monster Mania at the Museum
Posted on 10/17/2019
Akron Children’s Museum and Lock 3 Park will host two fun-filled evenings to celebrate Halloween in the park and inside the museum on October 19-20 from 4-7 p.m. In addition to an interactive trick-or-treating experience, the event will feature hands-on play attractions for children up to 14 years old and a costume contest.

Community organizations such as Keep Akron Beautiful, Downtown Akron Partnership, Huntington Bank and Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority will host stations along the trick-or-treating path and inside the museum. Guests will have a chance to touch and interact with an Akron fire truck, taste Boo-Berry smoothies at the Lock Stop Cafe, listen to the musical sounds of KidJam Radio, interact with the Akron Police Department K9 Unit, participate in a Scavenger Hunt, meet Miss Teen Ohio at the tattoo station, and play on a portion of the museum’s new Monster Mission Course inspired by American Ninja Warrior, set to open this Fall.

Children and families are encouraged to come dressed in creative costumes. Prizes will be awarded for winners in six different categories: Funniest, Scariest, Best Duo, Best Group, Overall Best and Most Original. Each evening, Wandering Aesthetics director Kyle Josza will lead an interactive theatrical performance, Scared Silly, at 5:30 p.m.; and there will be Halloween-themed movie shorts playing throughout both evenings. Visual artist Jen Davis of smARTStudio will facilitate an art activity in the museum’s Acme Fresh Market party room at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday. All activities are included with the $5/adult and $10/child admission fee. For a complete schedule of the weekend’s events, visit akronkids.org.
