About Findley CLC

The new Findley Community Learning Center opened on November 30, 2009.

Our teachers:

  • Our teachers have an average of 18 years of experience
  • 79% hold a master's degree or higher
  • All Findley CLC teachers have a "highly qualified" designation from the state 

Our programs:

  • a school-wide Title 1 program, which provides full-time teachers, tutors, instructional materials and special programs designated specifically for academic support
  • OhioReads
  • extended-day enrichment programs (Akron After School, ICEP)
  • Girls on the run  (4th and 5th grade)

History of Findley CLC

Findley CLC is named in honor of Samuel Findley (1831-1908), who served as the superintendent of Akron Public Schools for 15 years, from 1868 until 1883. He was very active in the education community of Ohio, serving as editor and publisher of the Ohio Educational Monthly after his retirement. The original school building constructed in 1906, and an addition was made in 1926. The dedication for new building on December 16, 2009; classes started in new building on November 30, 2009.
